dani
Rooted in rural Alberta and now based in Calgary, Dani has always felt closely tied to both nature and creativity. Surrounded by open landscapes and wildflowers growing up, she developed an early appreciation for the beauty found outdoors and the quiet act of making things by hand. That instinct eventually led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts, graduating with distinction from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2015.
Her path to floristry unfolded gradually, shaped by both creativity and personal experience. While working in a flower shop during a difficult season of life, Dani discovered the quiet power flowers hold within people’s most meaningful moments — celebrations, grief, milestones, and everything in between. What began as a job became something far more significant: a creative practice that offered both artistic expression and healing. Wanting to deepen her knowledge of the craft, she later completed a Floral Design Certificate through Mount Royal University.
In 2023, Dani founded Black Cat Floral Haus, a small Calgary floral studio rooted in art, intuition, and thoughtful design. The name is a personal homage to her own black cat, Kiki — a constant companion throughout her journey — and reflects the studio’s quiet belief in a little mystery, independence, and everyday magic.
Today, Dani’s work blends her fine arts background with the living medium of flowers, creating designs that feel natural, expressive, and beautifully fleeting.
Outside the studio, you’ll likely find her with a coffee and a book, alongside her partner Owen and their cats, Kiki and Max, who keep life delightfully unpredictable.
